Removed From The Chairman Of The East Java PWNU, KH Marzuki Mustamar Respects PBNU's Decision

Chairman of the East Java Nahdlatul Ulama (PWNU) Regional Management KH Marzuki Mustamar who was dismissed from his position by the Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) Executive Board expressed respect for the decision.

Marzuki admitted that he had received a letter of dismissal signed by PBNU Chairman KH Yahya Cholil Staquf, on Thursday (28/12) afternoon.

"We still respect when the decision is made by people we respect. So structurally, we as NU cadres certainly accept it in an organizational manner," Kiai Marzuki said as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, December 29.

He did not know the reason for his dismissal as Chairman of the East Java PWNU through the Decree of PBNU No.274/PB.01/AII.01.44/99/12/2023 concerning the Dismissal of the Chairman of the East Java Nahdlatul Ulama Regional Management.

However, Kiai Marzuki still respects the decision. He hopes that such a method only happens to him, and not to others. "We don't know in what context he was dismissed, we don't know. But as a decision, we respect, accept," he said. He also admitted that he did not know whether the dismissal was also related to the 2024 Presidential Election (Pilpres). However, Marzuki emphasized that so far his party has been neutral regarding the 2024 General Election (Pemilu). "We don't know what my mistake is. Since the presidential election was determined, I have invited all to be neutral. PBNU instructions are generally neutral, that instruction is what we hold," he said.

Previously, Deputy Chairperson of the Nahdlatul Ulama Executive Board, Amin Said Husni, said that the dismissal of the East Java PWNU chairman KH Marzuki Mustamar had been processed for a long time so that it had nothing to do with the practical political interests of 2024. "The process of dismissal is also in accordance with the existing AD/ART," said Amin Said in a written statement received in Surabaya, Thursday (28/12). Amin Said said that the dismissal was an internal organizational problem. According to Amin Said, because it was normal, all parties were asked not to exaggerate the issue of KH Marzuki's dismissal.
