PONTIANAK - The Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) has postponed the replacement of three regents in West Kalimantan Province (Kalbar) and will be carried out in accordance with the date of their inauguration based on the decision of the Constitutional Court (MK) RI in 2023.

The three regents in West Kalimantan whose replacements have been postponed are Mempawah, Sanggau and Kubu Raya, and will be replaced after their leadership period ends according to their inauguration date.

The positions of the three regional heads will end according to their inauguration period, namely Mempawah Regency on April 14, 2024, Sanggau on February 17, 2024, and Kubu Raya Regency on February 17, 2024.

Harisson explained that the Constitutional Court (MK) officially granted the lawsuit of Deputy Governor of East Java (Jatim) Emil Dardak regarding Article 201 paragraph (5) of the Pilkada Law regarding the end of the term of office of regional head for the 2018-2023 period which should have ended on December 31, 2023. However, with this decision, three regents in West Kalimantan canceled their term of office at the end of this year.
