SuRABAYA - Chairman of the East Java Nahdlatul Ulama (PWNU) Regional Management KH Marzuki Mustamar was dismissed due to a number of protracted internal problems, said the Nahdlatul Ulama Executive Board (PBNU). Secretary General of PBNU Saifullah Yusuf confirmed that the dismissal letter had been sent on December 28, 2023. "Our dismissal was decided through a long process following up on proposals from Rois Syuriah PWNU East Java," he told reporters in Surabaya, Thursday, December 29.Gus Ipul, his nickname, emphasized that the dismissal of the Caretaker of the Sabilurrosyad Gasek Islamic Boarding School, Malang City, was not due to different choices of the East Java PWNU candidates regarding the 2024 General Election. "The dismissal was due to a number of internal NU problems that were not controlled. It has absolutely nothing to do with political problems," he said. Gus Ipul gave an example, either KH Marzuki Mustamar as Chairman of the East Java PWNU was deemed unable to resolve the problems in the Management of the NU Branch of Jombang Regency. "We still respect and respect all the dedication that has been given by KH Marzuki Mustamar during his tenure as Chairman of the East Java PWNU.
