TKN Prabowo Reminds Roy Suryo: This Is A Democracy Country, But Don't Spread Hoaxes

JAKARTA - The head of the Prabowo-Gibran National Campaign Team (TKN), Rosan Roeslani, responded to accusations by telematics expert Roy Suryo to the vice presidential candidate number 2 Gibran Rakabuming Raka.

According to Rosan, Indonesia is a democracy that allows its citizens to speak publicly, but do not use this right to spread hoaxes.

"This is a democratic country. It's okay to say anything, but please don't spread something that is not true, slander, don't spread something that is not true," said Rosan as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, December 28.

Rosan said that all parties should carry out political education in this series of democratic parties, not actually spreading false information to the public.

"Don't do wrong political education, especially spreading hoaxes, spreading untrue news, so that this democratic party is damaged by things like that," he said.

However, Rosan was reluctant to reveal whether TKN would take legal steps regarding Roy Suryo's accusations.

According to him, the General Elections Commission (KPU) has clarified the allegations. "The KPU has already provided clarification and statement (statement, ed.), yes, I think that is it," he said.

Previously, Roy Suryo commented on the implementation of the inaugural debate for the vice presidential candidate at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC) Convention Center, Jakarta, Friday (22/12).

According to him, there were a number of irregularities in the debate organized by the KPU.

"Yesterday I thought, to avoid checking, the KPU should be fair," tweeted Roy Suryo through his X account, @KRMTRoySuryo1, Friday (22/12).

"Why does this number 2 use 3 (three) minutes at a time: 1.Clip-on, 2.Hand-held& 3.Head-set? What's the point of having an earphone? Who can feed to his ears? Why are the other 2 candidates different? Ambyar," he continued.

KPU chairman Hasyim Asy'ari responded to Roy Suryo on Saturday (23/12) night. According to him, the vice presidential candidates who took part in the debate used the same microphone.

Hasyim also emphasized that Gibran did not use ear feeders or ear feeders. He explained that the tool in the ears of the vice presidential candidates was a hook.

"Sponential debate, it is impossible to dictate, listen to whispers or read contekan. Roy Suryo is indeed a slanderous man," said Hasyim.

Most recently, Roy Suryo sent a subpoena to KPU Chairman Hasyim Asy'ari regarding his statement that the former Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora) was a "plot of slander". The subpoena was delivered by Roy Suryo's attorney from IDCC & Associates, Wednesday (27/12).
