KPU Gandeng PPLN Socializes 2024 Election To Indonesian Citizens Abroad

The General Election Commission (KPU) has effectively optimized the socialization related to the 2024 General Election through the Overseas Election Committee (PPLN) to Indonesian citizens (WNI) abroad, so they want to exercise their voting rights at the democratic party.

The KPU representation abroad is called PPLN, there are 128 representatives. Each of the PPLN conducts socialization in various ways," said KPU Chairman Hasyim Asy'ari as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, December 27.

Hasyim said the socialization was carried out through a communication method that had been adapted to the background of the Indonesian citizen community abroad.

For example, he said, if the Indonesian citizen is a group of students who are studying abroad, the communication pattern is aligned with their culture.

Hasyim ensured that this pattern was also applied to socialization activities for the 2024 General Election for migrant workers from Indonesia to Indonesian citizens who did live permanently abroad.

"If the community happens to be students, of course by way of students, if the migrant workers are migrant workers, with people who live or have lived there, are permanent, there are of course through the Indonesian community there," he said.

According to Hasyim, all these efforts were made so that all stages of the 2024 General Election could be conveyed to Indonesian citizens abroad who were included in the permanent voter list (DPT).

That way, around 1.7 million Indonesian citizens abroad registered in the 2024 Election DPT can exercise their voting rights.

"Of course at the beginning, when registering voters is not an easy job. If our voters are abroad, around 1.7 million people," he said.

Hasyim emphasized that the logistics needs of the 2024 General Election, especially ballots for voters abroad, have been well distributed.

Later, all logistics will be used by DPT abroad in channeling their voting rights legally.

"The ballots have been sent and received all by PPLN in all representatives. Voting abroad is early. There are various kinds, some are February 4, some are February 9, February 10, depending on the proposals of PPLN friends," he said
