Police Arrest Minimarket Robbers Syndicate In Tangerang

TANGERANG - Tangerang City Police, Banten, arrested a minimarket robbery syndicate that was carried out at 23 crime scenes in December 2023.

Tangerang Police Head of Criminal Investigation Unit (Kasatreskrim) Kompol Arief Nazarudin Yusuf said that from the disclosure of the case there were six perpetrators with the initials A, H, T, HS. Meanwhile, two other perpetrators with the initials I and S are on the wanted list (DPO).

"We have confirmed that the person we have secured is the person who must be responsible for the criminal act of robbery that occurred. Therefore, on Saturday (23/12) yesterday we were able to arrest him," he told reporters, Tuesday, December 26.

He explained that the minimarket/ruko robbery syndicates carried out their crimes in various places together.

They, he said, robbed a minimarket between 03.00 WIB in the morning after the owner closed the shop. Then, the perpetrators broke into and then grabbed a number of valuables in the shop.

"From their actions, we have confirmed that this is a syndicate, because the pattern of the perpetrators is systematic. They'map' when the shophouse was empty," he explained.

After the syndicate's action was discovered, investigators managed to identify the two perpetrators with the initials A and H. The person concerned acts as a monitor of the situation and executor.

Then, from the results of the arrest, his party immediately carried out developments in the Pedongkelan Kapuk area in West Jakarta and again managed to secure two other perpetrators with the initials T and HS.

"On their confession that the robbery was carried out randomly to minimarkets/ruko, targeting basic necessities, gas cylinders, money, and other valuables," he said.

The 23 crime scenes (TKP) selected by the perpetrators include Jabodetabek areas such as South Tangerang, Tangerang City, Tangerang and Depok, Bogor, and Jakarta.

For their actions, the suspects were subject to Article 363 of the Criminal Code with a maximum penalty of seven years in prison.

"Currently, we are in the process of pursuing the two perpetrators. And they immediately sold the stolen goods to buy again illegal goods, namely shabu-shabu, because we also found evidence of bongs," he said.
