HANOI There are about 13.900 cyberattacks in Vietnam in 2023, an increase from year to year by 9.5%, according to a report announced by the National Cyber Security Center (NCSC), reported by Oanenews, Sunday, December 24.

The report shows that more than 550 websites of state institutions under the names.gov.vn and several educational organizations under the domain name.edu.vn have been attacked, compromised and have ad codes for gambling and betting incorporated into their limits by hackers.

Meanwhile, ransomware attacks have targeted more than 83,000 computers and servers, up 8.4% from the previous year.

These attacks mainly target government institutions, banking systems, financial institutions, industrial systems and many other important systems across the country. In particular, the number of attacks increases towards the end of the year when institutions, organizations, and the business world must complete various projects.

The majority of these attacks were phishing attacks (32.6% of the total number), while 27.4% of attacks targeted platform and software vulnerabilities installed on computers and servers, and 25.3% targeted websites developed by organizations.

To prevent cyberattacks, agencies and organizations must review their cybersecurity, evaluate the security of their network devices, and implement a 24-7 security monitoring system.
