JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of Commission III of the DPR, Habiburokhman, asked that Firli Bahuri's replacement process be carried out immediately after his resignation from the position of chairman of the KPK because he was caught in an extortion case against former Agriculture Minister Syahrul Yasin Limpo (SYL). "We hope that the replacement for Mr. Firli can be processed soon so that there is no vacancy in the leadership of the KPK," said Habiburokhman in his statement, Friday, December 22. The deputy governor of Gerindra respects Firli's attitude in deciding to resign from his position as Chairman of the KPK. According to him, the decision was the right step for him and the KPK. "We respect Pak Firli's attitude in resigning as a commissioner of the KPK. This step is very appropriate for himself and at the same time for the KPK," explained Habiburokhman. With this resignation, Habiburokhman assessed that Firli could concentrate more on the legal process he was undergoing. "On the one hand, Mr. Firli can concentrate more on defending himself in dealing with the legal process, on the other hand, the work of the KPK as an institution can be maximized," he said. It is known, Firli Bahuri stated that he resigned from his position as inactive KPK chairman. He admitted that he had communicated with President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) regarding his decision. "I ended my duties as Chairman of the KPK and I declared my resignation and I also stated that I did not want to extend my term of office," Firli told reporters at the ACLC building, Rasuna Said, South Jakarta, Thursday, December 21. Firli said he had written to the Minister of State Secretary (Mensesneg) Pratikno to be submitted to President Jokowi.
