Coalition Political Parties Yakin Mahfud Kuasai Debate Cawapres

JAKARTA - PPP DPP chairman Achmad Baidowi believes that vice presidential candidate number 3 Mahfud MD can master the theme of the second debate for the 2024 presidential election which raises the theme of economy, finance, investment, taxes, trade, management of the APBN-APBD, infrastructure, and urban areas.

"We are optimistic that Mr. Mahfud will master the vice presidential debate tomorrow. The debate for Mr. Mahfud is arguably daily food for him," Baidowi said as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, December 21.

According to him, Mahfud is a figure who understands the laws and economics. He considered that understanding of the laws was very much needed for a leader in taking the country's strategic policies.

"The certainty in the economy is obtained from certainty in law enforcement," he said.

Awiek said that Mahfud would emphasize that his position would strengthen the laws and economics so that the economy would progress, be consistent, economic stability.

"Economic stability is achieved if law enforcement runs optimally," he said.

Chairman of the National Campaign Division of the Hanura Party DPP Jimmy Charles Kawingian assessed that Mahfud MD was a very good figure and an expert in the field of law, so that he was able to uncover cases of state economic losses such as Jiwasraya, BLBI, a case of alleged Money Laundering (TPPU) at the Ministry of Finance worth Rp. 349 trillion.

"Automatically he understands and understands about the economy because it is all related to the nation's economic problems," he said.

Jimmy said Mahfud when he served as Chairman of the Constitutional Court (MK) in 2009, the institution decided to allocate 2 percent of tobacco excise revenue funds in the Excise Law not only for the provinces that own cigarette factories but also for tobacco-producing provinces.

"Well, from there we can prove that Mahfud really controls the economy because all fields related to the law such as economy, social, culture and others must of course be controlled by the legal expert. Moreover, Mahfud's class, whose track record does not need to be evacuated anymore," he said.

Jimmy believes Mahfud will appear brilliant in the second debate related to the economy. He also believes Mahfud will issue a new breakthrough in the debate that will take place at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC) on Friday (22/12).
