Acting Governor Of West Sulawesi Bans Fireworks During Christmas And New Year

Acting Governor of West Sulawesi Zudan Arif Fakrulloh forbade the public to hold fireworks at the 2023 Christmas celebration and New Year's Eve.

"The government really wants Christmas and New Year celebrations in West Sulawesi to remain in a conducive, safe and peaceful atmosphere," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, December 21.

He said that during the Christmas and New Year celebrations, the people of West Sulawesi were asked to pray more in their houses of worship or in their respective homes, so that in 2024 development could increase for the welfare of the community.

"The government prohibits people from holding fireworks or lighting firecrackers so that the atmosphere of West Sulawesi remains peaceful and conducive at Christmas and New Year celebrations," he said.

According to him, if people have sustenance, it should be used for charity and not used to buy fireworks or firecrackers.

Zudan also asked the people of West Sulawesi to maintain harmony and create a harmonious atmosphere so that people can also live in peace.

Meanwhile, the Head of the West Sulawesi Regional Police, Inspector General Adang Ginanjar, said that the Candle Operation which was held from December 22 to January 2, 2024 involved 3,000 TNI and Polri personnel and the ranks of the West Sulawesi Provincial government.

"These personnel will be on standby to provide services and security at Christmas and New Year celebrations in strategic places such as the Trans Sulawesi route, tourist attractions, and other crowded places," he said.
