Resign In The Midst Of The Trial Of Alleged Ethical Violations, Firli Imitates Lili Pintauli's Traces?

JAKARTA - Firli Bahuri declared his resignation from his position as inactive KPK chairman. He admitted that he had communicated with President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) regarding his decision.

"I ended my duties as Chairman of the KPK and I declared my resignation and I also stated that I did not want to extend my term of office," Firli told reporters at the ACLC building, Rasuna Said, South Jakarta, Thursday, December 21.

Firli said he had written to the Minister of State Secretary (Mensesneg) Pratikno to convey to President Jokowi. "I thank the President, Mr. Joko Widodo and Mr. Vice President Mr. Ma'ruf Amin and all the nation's children wherever they are who have accompanied me including media colleagues," he said.

This resignation was conveyed by Firli in the midst of the trial for alleged ethical violations being held by the KPK Supervisory Board. This kind of method has also been taken by former Deputy Chairperson of the KPK, Lili Pintauli Siregar, in June 2022.

It is known, Lili decided to resign from her position when the KPK Council investigated alleged ethical violations because she was suspected of receiving gratuities in the form of Mandalika MotoGP tickets and accommodation. The gift came from PT Pertamina (Persero).

After Lili resigned and was approved by President Jokowi, the KPK Council decided not to continue the ethics trial. The reason is that he is no longer a member of the anti-corruption commission.

Just like Firli, Lili was also never present at that time to fulfill the summons of the KPK Council for various reasons. Including doing assignments outside the city.

Previously, Dewas would actually soon determine the fate of alleged ethical violations of the inactive KPK chairman Firli Bahuri. They just need to examine the reporter and the reported party before giving the sentence for the retired Bhayangkara Corps.

"We will first compile the verdict (after all the examinations are completed, ed)," said member of the KPK Council Albertina Ho to reporters.

Albertina said that her party examined a number of witnesses to investigate the alleged ethical violations committed by Firli today. One of them is the boss of the nightclub, Alex Tirta.

The KPK Council finally tried Firli for the three violations he allegedly committed. The first is related to a meeting with former Minister of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo. The two ethical violations committed by Firli also relate to LHKPN which is not true, including debt. Finally, an ethics trial will also be held regarding the rental of a house on Jalan Kertanegara Number 46. Firli is suspected of violating Article 4 Paragraph 2 letter a or Article 4 paragraph 1 letter j and Article 8 of the KPK Council Regulation (Perdewas) Number 3 of 2021.
