CMMI Cancels Reporting Zulhas To Police Headquarters, PAN Wants A Polemic Of Prayers Ended

JAKARTA - Member of the House of Representatives from the PAN faction, Guspardi Gaus, hopes that the alleged joke from the statement of the Minister of Trade, Zulkifli Hasan (Zulhas), will be ended along with the cancellation of the Indonesian Muslim Youth Cendekia (CMMI) report to the National Police Headquarters.

Guspardi asked Zulhas' statement about the tahayat movement in the viral prayer to be seen in a balanced and objective manner.

"If you want to see it in its entirety, Zulhas' statement is a joke by conveying the stories he hears and finds in the community. So it's not something that is far-fetched let alone harassing. One example is when praying is associated with certain partners. This has also been conveyed by two well-known Indonesian clerics before," said Guspardi, Thursday, December 21.

The member of Commission II of the DPR said that political affairs are a matter of pluralism. According to him, do not let political affairs be led to issues of worship, let alone those associated with blasphemy.

The legislator from West Sumatra assessed that it could be because Zulhas' position was the General Chair of the party carrying the Prabowo-Gibran candidate pair, so there were certain parties who were suspected of leading to the issue of religious harassment.

If Zulhas was not a supporter of Prabowo-Gibran, said Guspardi, it might not be this busy.

"And I have also heard from my parents that the Young Indonesian Muslim Cendekia (CMMI) canceled the report to the National Police Headquarters following allegations of blasphemy by the General Chair of PAN, Zulkifli Hasan," said Guspardi.

It is known that the report was canceled after CMMI re-examined Zulhas' statement allegedly harassing the prayer. CMMI admitted that Zulhas' statement was joking and had also been carried out by other scholars who were widely circulated through WhatsApp messages.

"Therefore, let's end this issue, don't let it be extended. Because I believe there is no intention of Mr. Zulhas to harass religion. It would be nice if we had to be more mature in seeing Mr. Zulhas' jokes and interpreting them completely and objectively," said Guspardi.

He also invited to maintain the harmony of the ummah by avoiding incitement and hoaxes from parties that intend to disrupt democratic parties.

"So that the political temperature that is increasingly dynamic at this time can be better and the implementation of elections that are already in sight can be carried out safely, orderly in a cool manner," concluded the member of the DPR Baleg.
