Lampung Regional Police Deploys 1,886 Personnel to Secure 1,050 Churches During This Year's Christmas Celebration

LAMPUNG - Lampung Regional Police secured 1,050 churches during the 2023 Christmas celebrations. 1,886 troops were deployed from the police and 1,496 personnel from related agencies.

"Specifically for Christmas celebrations, security objects include 1,050 churches consisting of 695 Protestant churches and 356 Catholic churches," said Lampung Police Chief Inspector General Helmy Santika in Bandar Lampung, Antara, Thursday, December 21.

Security for Christmas and New Year was carried out at all police and police stations during Operation Krakatoa Candle 2023.  Security was also carried out at strategic locations and centers of crowds of people traveling during the Christmas and New Year 2024 holidays.

"The 2023 Krakatoa Candle Operation will be carried out for 12 days from December 22, 2023 to January 2, 2024," said Helmy.

Helmy added that the main objective of the 2023 Krakatoa Candle Operation is to ensure the comfort of worship for Christians, homecoming and return flows, and people traveling in the Lampung Province area.

"During the implementation of Operation Krakatoa Candle 2023, we are prioritizing prevention supported by detection and law enforcement, so that people can celebrate Christmas and New Year safely, securely and in an orderly manner," he said.

Other objects that are predicted to become busy centers are 361 tourist attractions, 43 shopping centers, as well as 52 New Year celebration locations. "Security is also carried out at 22 terminals, 23 train stations, three ports and two airports. The Lampung Regional Police are also alerting 66 posts. "consisting of 44 security posts, 21 service posts and 1 integrated post," he said.
