Police Hunt 6 Perpetrators Of Timor Leste Residents Attack In Denpasar

DENPASAR - Denpasar City Police and South Denpasar Police are hunting for six people suspected of being the perpetrators of the attack on two residents of Tomor Leste Mathias Fernandes and John until both of them were seriously injured.

Head of the Denpasar Police Public Relations Section, AKP Ketut Sukadi, said that the persecution and destruction of victims of foreign nationals from East Leste occurred on Wednesday (20/12) at around 00.45 WITA in front of an elite boarding house on Jalan Bedugul, Sidakarya, South Denpasar.

Based on witness testimony, the police pocketed the characteristics of the perpetrators with special showcases in the NTT area, four perpetrators with large and high postures of about 174 cm and two other thin bodies with a height of about 170 cm.

"The perpetrators carried out attacks using sharp weapons, riding three motorbikes," said Sukadi.

According to witness Moises Marcal (33) who witnessed the incident, he said he had just arrived at Bali's I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport after flying from England.

"Because the flight schedule to Timor Leste was still at 09.00 WITA, the witness was invited to stop at the victim Jhon's inn, who daily served as a driver with the witness' brother named Matias Fernandes.

Before going to the boarding house, the witness and the two victims ate at the restaurant on Jalan Tukad Pakerisan. After finishing eating, the witness and the victim went to the driver's boarding house on Jalan Bedugul Gang Garuda No. 2 Sidakarya, South Denpasar.

It turned out that the perpetrators were already at the scene waiting for about six people armed with machetes. The victim, on behalf of Jhon, got out of the car and wanted to ask about the intent and purpose of the perpetrators in that place.

Before the victim asked, the perpetrators immediately carried out an attack with a machete, resulting in injuries to his hands.

"The perpetrators also attacked the victim who was still in the car with a machete, causing the victim on behalf of Matias Fernandes to suffer a slash on the left hand of the wrist, on the upper left arm and causing the rear left side of the car window to burst," Sukadi said as quoted by ANTARA.

The perpetrators fled for fear of being discovered by local residents.

Another witness, Andreas Frank Asido LimbaNTObing (19) gave information that six perpetrators arrived at the location at around 00.45 WITA. The perpetrators had time to look for Jhon's victim in the room, but because they were not there, they waited outside the boarding house and walked back and forth waiting for the victim to come home.

When the victim arrived, the perpetrator suddenly attacked. The panicked victim immediately encouraged the witness to enter the boarding house to avoid attacks from the perpetrators.

After the incident, the witness came out of the boarding house to see that the perpetrator was gone and saw the victim injured and then with friends reported the incident.

The victim was taken by Denpasar City BPBD officers to the Sanglah Denpasar Central General Hospital.

Until now, the police are still pursuing the perpetrators and the motive for the attack is not yet known.
