Former KPK Employee: There Is No More Reason For Firli Not To Fulfill The Call Of The Council

JAKARTA - Former investigator of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Yudi Purnomo said Firli Bahuri should have been present at the ethics trial held by the KPK Supervisory Board today, Wednesday, December 20. The inactive KPK chairman has no reason to ask for a postponement.

"You have to come because the pretrial hearing has been rejected," Yudi told reporters quoted on Wednesday, December 20.

"So there is no reason for him to focus on the pretrial trial," he continued.

It is known that Firli should have undergone a trial for alleged ethical violations held by the KPK Council on Thursday, December 14. However, the trial was postponed because he was not present on the grounds that he was focusing on the pretrial process at the South Jakarta District Court (PN).

Firli filed a pretrial because he did not accept being named a suspect by the Polda Metro Jaya regarding the alleged extortion or acceptance of gratuities from former Minister of Agriculture (Mentan) Syahrul Yasin Limpo.

Returning to Yudi, he said, the KPK Council must continue to carry out the ethical process without waiting for Firli's presence. "Because (Firli, ed) has been given the opportunity to attend and defend himself," he said.

Meanwhile, former senior KPK investigator Novel Baswedan also assessed that tomorrow's ethics trial will determine the seriousness of the supervisory board in handling alleged violations committed by Firli. "There is no serious reason," he said.

For him, Firli must be immediately decided to violate ethics or not to prevent bad precedents. "Why, because later there will be people who can avoid it and by all means the KPK Council is helpless. This is something bad," said Novel.

Previously reported, the KPK Council confirmed that it would hold a trial for alleged ethical violations committed by Firli on Wednesday, December 20. There are dozens of people who will be questioned.

"If I'm not mistaken, 12 people (presented, ed)," said KPK Council Member Syamsuddin Haris to reporters when confirmed.

Syamsuddin said the ethics trial would continue even though Firli was not present. Meanwhile, Firli Bahuri has not shown a nose.

"Tomorrow (today, red) we will see," he said in the East Jakarta area, Tuesday night, December 19.

The KPK Council has agreed to try Firli regarding three alleged ethical violations. The first is related to a meeting with former Minister of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo. The two ethical violations committed by Firli also relate to LHKPN which is not true, including debt. Finally, related to the rental of a house on Jalan Kertanegara Number 46.
