Coordinating Ministry For Human Development And Culture Launches Zoonosis Disease Detection System

JAKARTA - The Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture (Kemenko PMK) launched the Zoonosis Information System Application and Emerging Infectious Diseases (SIZE) to detect the threat of infectious diseases from animals to humans.

"The SIZE application is to optimize the rapid response to zoonotic events or infectious diseases from animals to humans, as well as to Emerging Infectious Diseases or New Infection Diseases (PIB)," said Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Muhadjir Effendy as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, December 19.

Muhadjir said the threat of zoonosis, such as rabies, BETraks, leptospirosis, and bird flu is increasing.

To detect the emergence of new infectious diseases (PIB) that have the potential to become extraordinary events (KLB), outbreaks, can even become a pandemic such as COVID-19, a system of information is needed that is able to respond quickly.

According to him, the SIZE application was prepared as a tool to unravel obstacles in coordination and exchange of cross-sector data from the regional to the central level.

The SIZE application connects three health surveillance systems in three agencies, namely the Early Alert System and Response/SKDR at the Ministry of Health, the National Integrated Animal Health Information System/ISIKHNAS at the Ministry of Agriculture, and the Wildlife Health Information System/SEHATSATLI at the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK).

The SIZE workflow consists of a zoomnosis case data sharing feature from three interoperable information systems, alert notifications (alerts) to users, inter-case linking, recording of rapid responses, and evaluating the response performance of cross-sectoral cases.

The SIZE application is used by field officers in the public health sector, animal health, conservation (illegal animals), or other officers who are members of the Tikor zoonosis and PIB rapid response team formed by regional heads.

"Hopefully the application that functions as an integrator can be maximized, so that we can be more professional, trending, defet in responding to various cases related to zoonosis," he said.
