Mahfud MD Affirms Again Must Continue IKN In Accordance With The Mandate Of The Law

PADANG - Candidate for vice president (cawapres) number 3 Mahfud MD reiterated his commitment to continue the construction of the National Capital City (IKN) of the Archipelago if the pair is elected in the 2024 presidential election contestation.

"We will continue IKN, because that is the content of the law," said Mahfud Md in Padang, West Sumatra, quoted by ANTARA, Monday, December 18.

This was conveyed by the vice presidential candidate Mahfud MD after attending the vision and mission surgery and an idea test organized by the Student Executive Board (BEM) of Andalas University KM.

As the party involved directly in making Law Number 3 of 2022 concerning the State Capital, Mahfud emphasized that these ideals must be continued if elected.

It's just that the continuation of the IKN development needs to review the stages and determine the targets that will be carried out by the government or policy makers.

When asked about the urgency or factors that urged the construction of IKN, the former Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court (MK) answered about aspects of comfort.

"Yes, so that we have a capital city that is more comfortable to live in," said the Sampang-born figure.

Previously, in the debate, the presidential candidate Ganjar Pranowo asked presidential candidate number 1 Anies Baswedan regarding the continuation of IKN in East Kalimantan if elected.

Responding to this question, Anies responded with an answer when there was a problem in Jakarta as the State Capital, so it should not be abandoned but must be resolved.

"When in Jakarta we face environmental problems, traffic density, population density, it must be resolved," Anies answered during the inaugural debate Tuesday (12/12).

According to Anies, by leaving Jakarta and then moving to IKN, which is located in East Kalimantan, it will not solve the problem so that it needs to be resolved.
