JAKARTA - Head of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency, Syafrin Liputo, reminded that no more people should put up campaign attributes with the picture of presidential and vice-presidential candidates, political parties, and legislative candidates in public transportation.
Syafrin warned that if there are residents who are caught installing campaign attributes on public transportation, they will be forced to step down at the next stop or station.
"Of course we remind those concerned to no longer install. If caught, at the next stop they are welcome to come down," Syafrin told reporters, Monday, December 18.
Previously, there was a case of sticker sticking showing a legislative candidate in a Transjakarta seat. This was viral on social media. The sticker was immediately removed by another passenger.
Unfortunately, Transjakarta did not know who put the sticker on, so there was no follow-up to the perpetrator.
Syafrin admitted that the DKI Provincial Government and PT Transjakarta BUMD had difficulty identifying the perpetrators of the campaign attributes because of the large number of passengers traveling.
"Of course when it is pasted it will not be identified once massive people sit and the interval changes are very high, so it is difficult for us to identify even though there are cameras on the bus," explained Syafrin.
"We urge the APK on public transportation not to install it, especially on buses, stick stickers. We hope it becomes a neutral area," he added.
Campaign props (APK) have started to spread everywhere, this is a sign of the start of the election. However, there are regulations that campaign props are prohibited from being installed on public transportation as yellow plate vehicles.
In order not to violate the provisions, the installation of the APK has been regulated in Law No. 7 of 2017 and PKPU No. 15 of 2023.
In the 2024 election, campaign props can be in the form of billboards, banners, and embankments. Not only that, the provisions for this year's props are different, one of which is the absence of size provisions for campaign props equipment.
“ No, public facilities should not be used, for example, public transportation (city transportation) is not allowed, which yellow plates are not allowed. Transjakarta buses include yellow plates, right, that's not allowed, ” said Chairman of the Indonesian Bawaslu Rahmat Bagja on December 7, 2023.
