Democratic Party Candidate Apologizes For Using Police Service Plate Cars For Campaigns

TANGERANG The legislative candidate (Caleg) in Tangerang apologized for using a car with a police license plate used for the campaign. It is known that the Democratic candidate named Zulfikar was previously still a member of the legislature, he again nominated himself for the 2024 election in the same chair.

Tangerang Police Chief Kombes Sigit Dany Setiyono explained that after his party received a report regarding the matter, Zulfikar was immediately investigated and the officers took action.

Kombes Sigit said the steps taken were coordinating with Bawaslu and communicating with the Propam Division of the Banten Police.

"We have taken action, namely controlling the ticketing of traffic violators, namely the number plates that we have removed. Including the use of sirens, rotators, or strobos that we have ordered," said Sigit, in a video received, Sunday, December 17.

Not only that, Sigit also asked Zulfikar to provide clarification to explain the problem of using the police plate car used by the campaign, even though it only lowered the campaign props.

"I am Zulfikar, the legislative candidate for the DPR RI. Delivering clarifications to the viral video of vehicles with police number plates used to carry campaign props," said Zulfikar.

"The car is my personal car, and not a police official car," he continued.

According to Zulfikar, the license plate he used was official from the National Police, considering his current status as a member of the Indonesian House of Representatives.

"However, currently the validity period has been dead since June 2023," he said.

Zulfikar explained that the car was used by his younger brother and personal driver. In the car, when the incident happened, said Zulfikar, there was only a driver. Meanwhile, he was in another vehicle.

"For this reason, we apologize to the Police and the public for the actions that have taken place, and we are ready that this incident will be followed up in accordance with applicable laws and regulations," said Zulfikar.

From the results of the clarification, it was revealed that the National Police service plate was not the original license plate of the car. For thestrobe, rotator, Polri service plate, and Polri service STNK were confiscated.

As for the alleged election crime, it will be handed over to the Tangerang Regency Bawaslu.
