Khofifah Claims The Price Of Premium Medium Basic Food In East Java As Of December 15, 2023, The Lowest In Java

SITUBONDO - Governor of East Java Khofifah Indar Parawansa said that until December 15, 2023, the price of premium and medium basic necessities in East Java was still the lowest in Java when compared to other provinces. "But we still have to do extra control, so that people's carrying power, people's purchasing power can still be affordable," he said while reviewing the cheap market in Aryo Situbondo Hall, East Java, Antara, Saturday, December 17. The cheap market, which is held by the Situbondo Regency Government in collaboration with the East Java Provincial Government, provides basic necessities including 10 tons of rice, 500 kilograms of sugar, and 500 liters of cooking oil, all of which are sold below market prices. According to Governor Khofifah, cheap markets are an effort to support people's purchasing power for basic necessities whose prices continue to creep up or above the highest retail price (HET). Every time before the national holidays and religious hearts, he continued, there is usually a turmoil in the price of basic necessities. "We always hold cheap markets. Since September 1, 2023 until now there have been 83 points where cheap markets are held," said Governor Khofifah. He hopes that through affordable prices, children, especially toddlers and pregnant women, they can be met. "At every point (cheap market) we always distribute eggs for toddlers and pregnant women, hopefully, of course, we want to increase the nutritional support of children, especially toddlers and pregnant women," said Khofifah.

Data was obtained, in the cheap market the price of medium rice was sold for Rp. 10,500 per kilogram, sugar was Rp. 15,000 per kilogram, cooking oil was Rp. 14,000 per liter.
