Ministry Of Energy And Mineral Resources Prepares 24 Hour Emergency Response Team During Christmas And New Year Holidays

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) has anticipated a number of potential geological disasters during the 2023 Christmas and 2024 New Year holidays.

Head of the Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG) of the Geological Agency of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Hendra Gunawan, said that his party had alerted a geological disaster emergency response team that was on standby 24 hours so that the year-end holiday would run smoothly and safely.

Hendra said the Geological Agency provided a map of the distribution of ground movement-prone points on roads in Java, Sumatra, and Sulawesi to local governments and regional police in the area.

As Chair of the National Command Post for the ESDM Sector, BPH Migas established a synergy with the Police regarding the distribution of fuel and traffic routes.

Synergy with the Ministry of Transportation in the land, sea and air sectors is related to increasing community movement.

Also with the Toll Road Regulatory Agency (BPJT) and PT Jasa Marga regarding the readiness of toll roads and rest area facilities.

"Including the Geological Agency and the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) regarding weather forecasts to anticipate disaster-prone areas and extreme weather. With this synergy, it is hoped that things that become obstacles or obstacles can be overcome together and anticipated early," said Erika.
