PDIP Encourages The Establishment Of Independent Committees To Supervise Odd Transactions In The 2024 Election

The PDI-P (PDIP) hopes that an independent committee will be involved to oversee odd transactions in the 2024 General Election. Pro-democracy groups are asked to move.

This was conveyed by the Secretary General of PDIP Hasto Kristiyanto in response to the findings of odd financial transactions ahead of the 2024 General Election. He said this independent committee could oversee the course of democracy by prioritizing accountability and justice.

"The part of the democratic instrument has fairness, accountability, and also in using resources. So we ask for help from pro-democracy groups, as Mr. Nurcholis Majid, the deceased was able to establish KIPP, the Independent Election Monitoring Committee to also become good referees between political parties, between candidates," said Hasto at a press conference at the PDIP DPP Office, Menteng, Central Jakarta, Friday, December 15.

Hasto assessed that the presence of an independent committee as a referee is very important, especially since there have been several allegations. For example, there are political parties that are diligent in installing billboards at various points.

The billboards are more than the number of administrators. There must be someone who calculates, how many, whether the parties report, how much it costs, and how many billboards are installed," he said.

Furthermore, Hasto also mentioned a number of intervention efforts. Thus, independent parties to monitor participants in the 2024 General Election are needed.

"The Constitutional Court, which should be sterile from intervention, can only be intervened. Debates at the KPU, if there is no intervention from civil society, including from other candidate pairs, namely the Amin and Ganjar-Mahfud, changes will definitely be made related to the debate at the KPU," he said.

In addition to forming an independent committee, Hasto also asked PPATK to clearly reveal who the party is suspected of carrying out odd transactions. Don't let the public ask questions.

"Moreover, they are sources of funds that cannot be accounted for, it is necessary that there are institutions that carry out supervision. That's why we ask PPATK to also convey it to the public so that it is very clear," concluded Hasto.
