PADANG - A political expert from Andalas University, Padang Asrinaldi, said that the presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto was not worthy to bring up Anies Baswedan's victory in the DKI Jakarta Pilkada in a presidential debate, Tuesday (12/12).

"We also don't say that Anies as a child of the nation owes Gerinda a favor, that's not what it should be," Asrinaldi said as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, December 14.

According to Asrinaldi, Anies Baswedan is a non-party figure promoted by Gerinda in the 2017 DKI Pilkada battle.

Pengusungan Anies sebagai kader, lanjut dia, merupakan bukti bahwa Gerindra tidak memiliki tokoh mampu untuk maju dalam pilkada DKI.

Gerindra, said Asrinaldi, is a political party that has an obligation to carry qualified figures as leaders.

"When Anies was promoted, he became Anies' debt, I don't think it's true because the party is also a state political infrastructure tool," he said.

He considered yesterday's presidential debate should be an event to sell ideas and ideas, not bring up past services.

Previously, the KPU held the first debate for the 2024 presidential election participants in Jakarta, Tuesday (12/12), with the theme government, law, human rights, eradicating corruption, strengthening democracy, improving public services, and harmony of citizens.

The debate was followed by three pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates, namely number 1 Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar, serial number 2 Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka, and serial number 3 Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud MD.

The series of debates will continue on December 22, 2023, January 7, 2024, January 21, 2024, and February 4, 2024.
