KAI Records 2.4 Million Long-Distance Train Tickets Sold Out, Local Trains Only 61 Percent

JAKARTA - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) or KAI recorded that the number of long-distance train tickets (KA JJ) for the 2024 Christmas and 2025 New Year (Nataru) holiday period that had been sold reached 2,433,704 or 88 percent of the total seats provided.

KAI Vice President of Public Relations Anne Purba said that based on today's data, the number of KA JJ and Local Train tickets that had been sold for the Nataru holiday period was 2,924,387.

"Consisting of 2,433,704 KA JJ or 88 percent of the total number of seats available, which is 2,770,864 tickets. For Local Train sales, it has reached 490,683 tickets or 61 percent of the total number of seats provided, which is 801,724 tickets," he said in an official statement, Sunday, December 29.

Meanwhile, during the period from December 19, 2024 to January 5, 2025, KAI Group provided a total of 44,754,280 seats.

Consisting of 3,572,588 KAI passengers, 35,407,300 KAI Commuter passengers, and 4,142,520 Jabodebek LRT passengers.

Then, 588,304 South Sumatra LRT passengers, 7,416 KAI Wisata passengers, 487,728 KAI Airport passengers, 29,160 Makassar-Parepare KA passengers and 519,264 KCIC passengers.

"For Medium/Long Distance Trains, ticket reservations can be made H-45, while for Local Trains themselves, reservations can only be made H-30 before departure and there are also several trains that can only be booked H-7 before departure," he said.

Anne said the total number of KAI Group trips during the Nataru period was 40,782 trains.

The details are, 7,328 train trips managed by KAI, 23,204 train trips managed by KAI Commuter, 1,872 train trips managed by KAI Airport, and 5,598 Jabodebek LRT trips.

Then, 1,772 LRT South Sumatra trips, 36 trips managed by KAI Wisata, 108 Makassar-Parepare train trips, and 864 Whoosh trips managed by KCIC.

Overall, KAI Group has transported 13,562,674 passengers in Java, Sumatra, and Sulawesi during the Christmas and New Year period.

"The number of ticket sales will continue to change dynamically and increase, because sales are still ongoing. KAI hopes that the public can immediately order tickets and plan their vacations carefully because some train tickets for the Christmas and New Year period have started to sell out," said Anne.
