The National Police Task Force Monitors Market Prices In Medan Ahead Of Christmas

The Food Task Force Team from the National Police Headquarters together with the North Sumatra Police and other stakeholders monitored prices for basic prices ahead of the 2024 Christmas and New Year celebrations.

"We have the task of monitoring the availability of goods and food prices in Indonesian territory, we are assigned to 12 provinces," said the Head of the Food Task Force from the National Police Headquarters, Kombes Ahmad Yanuari Insan, in Medan as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, December 14.

He said this monitoring was also in collaboration with related agencies such as the food security service, trade office agriculture and others.

"We are here to do an example test and check the price of food in the market, previously we received the food price and then now check it directly," he said.

According to him, usually towards the end of the year, food prices began to fluctuate. "Alhamdulillah, we found supply for special food in North Sumatra is sufficient for the next mid-year from sugar rice and other staples," he said.

In terms of price, there is a slight increase, it's just that it's still said to be normal.

"But grateful for the price of chili, it has started to fall in Medan City and other areas of North Sumatra," he said.

Meanwhile, the North Sumatra Provincial Government stated that there is sufficient food needs in its territory for the Christmas 2023 and New Year 2024 periods.

"Based on the checks on Wednesday (13/12) and today together with the Central and provincial Food Task Force, we emphasize that food commodities are sufficient for the community," said the Head of Food Crops at the Food Security, Food Crops and Horticulture Office of North Sumatra, Muhammad Juwaini, in Medan.

The Food Task Force, which was also strengthened by the National Police's Criminal Investigation Unit and the North Sumatra Police Food Task Force, conducted an inspection of the cooking oil producer Minita.

After that, they checked the stock of Stableized Rice Supply and Food Prices, sugar and cooking oil in the warehouse of Perum Bulog, North Sumatra Regional Office. The Food Task Force monitors stocks and food availability in several markets in Medan City such as MMTC Market and Petisah Market.
