The General Elections Commission (KPU) said that the holding of the first debate for presidential candidates took place smoothly and there would be no change in the format for further debates.

KPU chairman Hasyim Asy'ari explained several notes from the holding of the first presidential candidate debate held at the KPU, Jakarta on Tuesday, December 12 evening.

Hasyim said that the KPU noted a number of adjustments that needed to be made regarding invited guests who were present directly, because the debate, which should have started at 19.00 WIB, could only start at 19.20 WIB.

"There are many people in their names, they need adjustments," said Hasyim when asked because of the delay in the debate time, at the KPI RI Building, Jakarta.

In addition to this timeliness record, Hasyim responded to the presidential candidate number 3, Ganjar Pranowo, who asked for an additional question and answer session between presidential candidates.

Hasyim said that the current format of debate, most of the portion, is intended for questions and answers. However, there are differences from segments 2 and 3 as well as segments 4 and 5. Segments 2 and 3 questions are made by panelists according to the theme, while segments 4 and 5 pure questions are made by presidential candidates.

"I think from 6 segments, there are 4 full-question segments. The first segment contains the vision and mission of each candidate's program, the last segment of each candidate submits a closing statement. In fact, segments 2,3,4, and 5 can be said to be full of questions," explained Hasyim.

Even so, Hasyim said the format of the debate would not be changed. The second to fifth debate will still follow the first format of debate. This format will also apply to both the debate of presidential and vice presidential candidates.

"There has been no change in format, it has been agreed since the beginning of the format," said Hasyim.
