Police Thwart Delivery Of Methamphetamine Through Expeditionary Services At SSK II Airport

PekanBARU - Pekanbaru City Police Narcotics Investigation Unit, Riau, together with Avsec officers at Sultan Syarif Kasim II Airport thwarted two shipments of methamphetamine and ecstasy pills through flight route expedition services.

Pekanbaru Police Chief Kombes Jefri Ronald Parulian Siagian said the first disclosure was thwarted by weighing 295 grams of crystal methamphetamine on Monday (27/11). The goods were found in three medium-sized packages packaged in black cardboard.

"This illicit goods failed to be sent by being found in the Kargo warehouse at Sultan Syarif Kasim II Airport. This item will be sent through an expedition service that will be circulated outside Pekanbaru," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, December 12.

He said the package containing the methamphetamine was sent by a man with the initials FK and would later be received by FAS in Salatiga City, Central Java. Both were then arrested by the Pekanbaru Police Narcotics Unit Team.

Then in the second disclosure, shipments were thwarted through an expedition package. 3 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine and 1,392 ecstasy pills were sent via expedition services and secured at the Sultan Syarif Kasim II Airport Cargo, Tuesday (28/11).

After a series of investigations, the man with the initials SA was suspected of being the mastermind behind the shipment. At SA's house in Bangkalan Regency, East Java, a number of chemicals such as aquades, acetone, ethanol, and several other materials were found that were suspected of being used to make narcotics.

"If we look at this chemical, it will be used to make methamphetamine. The perpetrator made narcotics in his house. The home industry," added Jefri.

As a result of their actions, the perpetrators were charged with Article 114 paragraph 2 and/or Article 112 paragraph 2 Jo 132 of the Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics with a minimum imprisonment of 6 years and a maximum of 20 years.
