The inaugural debate for the Presidential Candidate-Cawapres starts today, Tuesday, December 12 at 19.00 WIB. The debate, which was held five times from December 2023 to February 2024, can continue to be attended by a support team. For the sake of smoothness and safety of the event, the rules for supporting presidential and vice-presidential candidates were enforced at the debate event.

The first session of the presidential and vice presidential candidates was held at the Indonesian KPU Office and broadcast live via TV and radio stations. In the inaugural debate, the presidential and vice-presidential candidates will convey the idea of the theme of government, human rights, law, eradicating corruption, and so on. The KPU prohibits participants from inviting or supporting the Presidential and Vice Presidential Candidates from bringing campaign props while attending the inaugural presidential candidate debate. The ban was imposed while in the debate area.

"There is an order like this, during the debate that took place in the debate area, as we know here, supporters are not allowed or are not allowed to bring campaign materials and campaign props," said KPU chairman Hasyim Asy'ari in Jakarta, Monday 11 December.

The head of the KPU said that screening or scanning would be applied before invited participants entered the debate area. Participants must leave campaign tools or attributes if caught carrying them.

"Once entering the arena, the team from the KPU will certainly carry out a kind of screening or sterilization to ensure that no campaign tools are carried by the support team, the only one that can be in the clothes," said Hasyim.

Hasyim said that the only attributes attached to the body that are allowed in the rules of the rules and regulations of the debate event are clothes.

The rules for the presidential and vice presidential candidates debate have been regulated in the Election Law (UU) in Article 277 of Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning Elections. The following are details of the rules for the presidential and vice presidential debate based on the law:

(1) The Debat of the Candidate Pair as referred to in Article 275 paragraph (1) letter h is carried out 5 (five) times.

(2) The Debat of the Candidate Pair as referred to in paragraph (1) is organized by the KPU and broadcast live nationally by electronic media through public broadcasting institutions.

(3) The debate moderator Pair Candidates were chosen by the KPU from professionals and academics who have high integrity, honesty, sympathy, and impartiality to one of the Candidate Pairs.

(4) During and after the debate The Candidate Pair, moderators are prohibited from commenting, assessing, and nodes on the delivery and material of each Candidate Pair.

(5) The debate material of the Candidate Pair is the national vision as referred to in the Preamble to the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia:
