HIV/AIDS Cases In Biak Numfor Until October 2023 Capai 3,127 Cases, Health Office: VCT Now Available At 19 Puskesmas

BIAK - The Health Office (Dinkes) of Biak Numfor Regency, Papua has prepared an examination service for the Voluntary Counseling and Testing (VCT) clinic for HIV/AIDS diseases spread across 19 Puskesmas.

"The VCT health care unit provides voluntary examination and counseling to identify and prevent the spread of infectious diseases such as HIV/AIDS," said Head of Disease Prevention and Control of the Biak Health Office Numfor Ruslan Epid in Biak, Saturday.

He said, there were three diagnosis criteria in the VCT examination, namely positive, negative, and indeterminate HIV test results or could not be determined.

Meanwhile, in 2023, according to Ruslan, the Biak Health Office has opened a decentralization service for anti-corruption drugs for six Puskesmas because there are complete local health workers.

Six ARV decentralized health centers consist of the Biak Kota Health Center, Paray Health Center, Sumberker Health Center, Yendidori Health Center and Korem Health Center and Marauw Health Center.

Meanwhile, for reporting cases of HIV/AIDS, the Biak Health Office applies online the HIV/AIDS Information System (SIHA) application service.

"With the SIHA application regarding reporting and recording cases of Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) and Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS), the data is centralized nationally," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, December 9.

He admitted, using the SIHA report is an important step in controlling the spread of HIV and AIDS disease in Indonesia, especially in Biak Numfor Regency.

He said the implementation of SIHA aims to facilitate the recording and reporting of HIV AIDS through one door and stored as national data.

Asked about the number of HIV/AIDS cases in Biak Numfor until October 2023, he said there were 3,127 cases.
