The Office of the General Elections Commission (KPU) of the Republic of Indonesia on Saturday began to play in preparation for the inaugural debate on the 2024 Presidential Election which is scheduled to take place on Tuesday (12/12).

The debate stage looks circular, with a higher audience seat like a tribune in a football stadium. "The capacity is 800 people," said KPU Commissioner August Mellaz at the Indonesian KPU Office, Jakarta, Saturday.

In terms of stage design, the KPU seems to want to ensure that every eye can easily see the presidential and vice presidential candidates.

The entire four-wheeled vehicle parking area is also covered with roofs. August also ensured that the debate area would be soundproof.

"Later it will be made closed like a building to ensure that no incoming voice can interfere with the debate," August Melasz said, as quoted by Antara.

The Indonesian KPU has set a schedule for the implementation of the presidential and vice presidential debates in the 2024 presidential election which will take place during the 2024 election campaign period on November 28, 2023 to February 10, 2024.

The first and second debates will be held on 12 and 22 December 2023. The third and fourth debates will be held on 7 and 21 January 2024.

Meanwhile, the last debate was held on February 4, 2024. The five presidential and vice presidential debates were held in Jakarta.

The presidential candidate debate will be held three times, while the vice presidential debate is twice. Even so, the pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates must attend the five debate opportunities.

The theme of the first debate includes government, law, human rights (HAM), eradicating corruption, strengthening democracy, improving public services, and community harmony.

The theme of the second debate is the economy that includes the people's economy, digital economy, finance, investment, taxes, trade, management of the APBN and APBD, infrastructure, and urban areas.

The third theme of debate is defense, security, international relations and geopolitical. Then the fourth theme of debate is the development of sustainability, natural resources, the environment, energy, food, agrarianism, indigenous peoples, and villages.

Then, the fifth debate theme includes social welfare, culture, education, information technology, health, employment, human resources, and also inclusion.
