New Indonesia Survey: Highest Satisfaction With Jokowi Since 2020

The New Indonesia survey is at the level of satisfaction with President Jokowi (doc. ANTARA).

JAKARTA - The New Indonesia Research & Consulting survey recorded findings of 82.3 percent of the public feeling satisfied led by President Joko Widodo. This figure increased throughout 2023 and was the highest since 2020.

In fact, as much as 9.8 percent of the 82.3 percent were very satisfied with Jokowi.

Only 15.8 percent said they were dissatisfied, of which 1 percent were dissatisfied at all. While the rest or 1.9 percent did not know / did not answer.

"Along with record breaking of satisfaction, the public wants a strong commitment to post-Jokowi's sustainability," said Executive Director of New Indonesia Research & Consulting, Andreas Nuryono, as reported by ANTARA.

The results of a survey on the level of public satisfaction that broke the record imply public expectations for sustainability after Jokowi no longer served as President next year.

Andreas further said that the discourse on sustainability had become a mainstream in the 2024 General Election.

"All pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates and coalition supporters are dominated or contain certain elements from the government camp," said Andreas.

"The narrative of change is increasingly becoming a minority amidst the dominant sustainability discourse, no one wants to be left behind by voters."

"Gibran's presence strengthens the commitment to sustainability by the pair number two," said Andreas.

In other words, Andreas revealed that the presidential-cawapres candidate pair number 1, Anies Baswedan-Cak Imin, must take into account the support map within the coalition.

You see, the Prabowo-Gibran pair became the most promising political power for the sustainability of Jokowi's programs.

The pair number 2 was also promoted by parties who are members of the Advanced Indonesia Coalition (KIM), almost all of whom come from government elements.

Meanwhile, according to Andreas, the position of pair number 3, Ganjar-Mahfud, is actually dilemmatic.

Ganjar initially received support as a presidential candidate from Jokowi. However, recently he even had a fight and often attacked Jokowi and Prabowo-Gibran camps.

The situation changed when Ganjar tried to show loyalty to his supporting party, the PDI-P.

"In fact, Indonesia is hosting the U-20 World Cup as a momentum for the split between Jokowi and the PDI-P which has an impact on the fading of Jokowi's support for Ganjar. Moreover, after the Constitutional Court allowed Gibran to participate in the match," said Andreas.

The New Indonesia Research & Consulting survey was conducted on November 25-30, 2023, on 1,200 people representing all provinces.

The survey method is multistage random sampling with a margin of error of approximately 2.89 percent and at a 95 percent confidence level.
