JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) will investigate allegations of buying luxury cars by former Yogyakarta Customs Chief Eko Darmanto. KPK Director of Investigation Asep Guntur Rahayu admitted that investigators had found the findings.

It is known, there is a source saying that Eko bought two luxury cars branded Mercedes Benz and BMW. Purchases were made in installments and the money used to make came from receiving gratuities.

"It was conveyed in the press conference material as well, even in cars, then we have motorbikes and others, what is their name, trace it," Asep told reporters at the KPK's Merah Putih building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Friday, December 8.

As for the press conference, Asep explained that Eko had received gratification since 2009. Acceptance is disguised through family and company accounts affiliated with him.

The company, said Asep, consists of buying and selling Harley Davidson motorbikes, restoring antique cars, to construction companies and procuring toll road supporting facilities.

The amount of gratuities Eko received reached Rp. 18 billion. Originally from import entrepreneurs, customs service management entrepreneurs (PPJK) to excisable goods.

However, in the future this number could increase. Because Asep said investigators would continue to explore the flow of money.

"Including other criminal acts," he said.

Previously reported, Eko has officially become a KPK prisoner. The gratification case that ensnared him was a continuation of his wealth which had gone viral on social media and was investigated by the Directorate of State Administrators Wealth Report (LHKPN) of the KPK.

Eko is suspected of violating Article 12B of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning the Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption as amended by Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 20 of 2001 concerning Amendments to Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption.
