The Department of Transportation of Hulu Sungai Selatan Regency (Dishub HSS) stated that the repair of the ferry crossing route to Habirau Tengah-Tambangan Village, Daha Selatan District reached 80 percent.
The Head of the HSS Transportation Agency, Hendro Martono, said that the repair of the ferry ship will be completed in the next two weeks so that it can serve the community again in two villages.
Hendro explained, the Daha District area has two river transportation services for the community using ferry crossings, namely Central Habirau-Mimbangan and Habirau-New Villages.
"Feri has been operating every day since 2019, the ship serves residents every day, except Sunday," said Hendro when confirmed in Kandangan, Antara, Friday, December 8.
However, the HSS Transportation Agency temporarily deployed the Habirau-New Village ferry to serve the Habirau-Tambangan route because the route was quite congested.
Hendro also expressed this condition with consideration that the user crossing to Baru Village was less and the usual ferry capacity to the village route was smaller than the damaged ship.
"We must limit the carrying capacity, for the safety and security of river transportation," he said.
According to him, the ferry crossing connecting Central Habiru and Tambangan Villages is a free transportation service from the HSS Regency Transportation Agency, so it is very helpful for the activities of residents who use river transportation.
In addition, the HSS Transportation Agency will also follow up on the proposed rehabilitation plan for the Nagara Port in Tumbukan Banyu, South Dada, according to the advice of the Acting Regent of HSS Hermansyah.
Hendro said that the Nagara Port is very important to dock on large ships and repairs will be carried out in 2024 by replacing ironwood construction to the Banjarmasin River Basin Center.
"We will also propose that the procurement of new speedboat facilities with better capacity and specifications, according to the advice of regional leaders if they visit areas that are not covered by land transportation, they are not constrained, because they can pass through the river route," said Hendro.
