Budiman Sudjatmiko Believes Gibran Can Control Debates Due To The Mayor's Experience

JAKARTA - Director of the Prabowo-Gibran National Campaign Team (TKN), Budiman Sudjatmiko, assessed that the experience of Gibran Rakabuming Raka as Mayor of Surakarta would be very helpful in facing the 2024 election debate.

"He has been the mayor, he has participated in the democratic political process, meaning that he has become an executive," said Budiman, who is also a member of the TKN Expert Council in South Jakarta, quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, December 7.

According to Budiman, Gibran has experience as a decision maker regarding public policy which directly affects the community.

Budiman also assessed that Gibran had sufficient experience to find solutions related to people's lives. This capital is considered by Budiman to be only owned by several pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates.

"That he was once the mayor, it was an advantage that in my opinion he could do as vice president of Pak Prabowo Subianto," he said.

Previously, the KPU emphasized that the holding of a debate for presidential and vice presidential candidates was carried out by referring to Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning Elections. The 2024 presidential election debate was carried out three times for presidential candidates and twice for vice presidential candidates.

KPU member Idham Holik said he would convey to the campaign team to present all candidate pairs in every debate session. This does not violate the legislation.

The debate for presidential and vice presidential candidates will be held five times. The first debate included government, law, human rights (HAM), eradicating corruption, strengthening democracy, improving public services, and community harmony.

The second debate, one of which includes the economy, including the people's economy and the digital economy. Then the third debate theme includes defense and security.

Furthermore, the theme of the fourth debate includes the development of sustainability, natural resources, the environment, energy, food, agrarians, indigenous peoples, and villages. Finally, the fifth debate theme includes social welfare, culture, education, information technology, health, employment, human resources, and inclusion.
