Good News, 16 Toddlers With Stunting In East Jakarta Successfully Recovered

JAKARTA - There are at least 89 children under five in Cipayung District indicated stunting. However, 16 of the toddlers managed to recover after participating in a special toddler eating program.

East Jakarta Mayor, M. Anwar said, from 89 children under five there was a decrease in the number of stunting toddlers to 73 children under five.

"There are 16 toddlers who have returned to normal because they get additional food. This is indeed very effective in reducing the stunting rate," said East Jakarta Mayor M. Anwar to reporters, Tuesday, December 5.

It is also believed that the reduction in stunting rates can be achieved in other areas. He hopes that this achievement can achieve the national target according to the instructions of the President of the Republic of Indonesia, the stunting rate reaches the target of 14 percent.

"For East Jakarta, our target is to be 10 percent, because we are not all involved at work," he said.

"The agencies involved came from PKK cadres, Dasawisma cadres, RT, RW administrators, sub-districts, sub-districts, to Puskesmas who collaborated in reducing stunting rates in East Jakarta to zero stunting," he said.

Eating together with special toddlers is a stunting management program that pays attention to residents, especially children under five who are indicated to be stunting.

"The children are indicated to have received direct PMT for 56 days. After the food, we evaluated together with Puskesmas cadres and nutrition doctors," he said.

The mayor appealed to the public not to miss the provision of additional food every day. For monitoring, every week the child with stunting is measured for weight, height and until normal weight.

"So after the stunting victim's toddler is normal (the condition), we don't just leave it behind but we still monitor it so that the toddler doesn't decrease again," he said.
