KPK Will Examine M Suryo In The DJKA Bribery Case

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) plans to examine the Commissioner of PT Surya Karya Setiabudi, M Suryo, who is reportedly a new suspect in alleged project bribery at the Directorate General of Railways (DJKA) of the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub).

Head of the KPK News Section Ali Fikri said the investigation would be carried out by investigators. However, he has not specified the exact time.

"Later, when there is an inspection schedule, we will definitely inform you," Ali told reporters at the KPK's Red and White House, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Tuesday, December 5.

"So far we have not received any information from our fellow investigative team," he said.

Suryo was mentioned in the indictment of the former Head of the Class 1 Railway Engineering Center for the Central Java region (Jabagteng) Putu Sumarjaya also received money. The receipt was made through an intermediary named Anis Syarifah as a sleeping fee or a gift from the winner to the party who lost the project arrangement.

The details of the receipt were stated on September 26, 2022 in the form of cash payments from Suranto Tato of IDR 3.5 billion and IDR 2.2 billion. Then, Suryo received IDR 1.7 billion from Freddy Nur Cahya and IDR 2.1 billion from Irhas Ivan Dhani.

In the indictment, he was also mentioned, together with entrepreneur Wahyudi Kurniawan, as a partner broker for a railway contractor.

Previously, Deputy Chairperson of the KPK Johanis Tanak had mentioned Suryo had been named a suspect. The determination was made after the case was carried out.
