4 Mountains In Indonesia Erupts, AirNav Says It Has Not Impacted The Flight Schedule

JAKARTA - The General Company that organizes the Indonesian Aviation Navigation Service (Perum LPPNPI) or AirNav Indonesia stated that so far no flights have been affected by the eruption of four volcanoes.

"Until this statement was issued, no flights had been affected," said AirNav Indonesia Corporate Secretary Hermana Soegijantoro, quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, December 5.

On December 3, 2023, it was reported that the eruption of Mount Marapi at 16.40 UTC or December 3, 2023 at 23.40 WIB, after a few hours later at 21.30 UTC or December 4, 2023 at 04.30 WIB, the eruption of Mount Semeru occurred, and on the same day it was 23 minutes after 21.53 UTC or December 4, 2023 at 04.53 WIB, there was also an eruption of Mount Lewotolo.

Then, on December 3, 2023 at 01.30 UTC or December 4, 2023 at 08.30 WIB, the eruption of Mount Marapi occurred again.

Next, on December 4, 2023, there was also an eruption of Mount Anak Krakatau at 04.10 UTC or December 4, 2023 at 11.10 WIB with an altitude of A050 winds leading to the Northwest.

In this regard, AirNav Indonesia has also published ASHTAM information with the number: ASHTAM Krakatau: VAWR2772,ASHTAM Marapi: VAWR2769, and ASHTAM Lewotowo: VAWR5853.

It is known that the Geological Agency of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) through the Center for Volcanology for Geological Disaster Mitigation (PVMBG) has issued recommendations regarding the Alert Status (Level II) of Mount Marapi.

These recommendations include asking people/tourists not to move within a 3 km radius of the crater to be obeyed for mutual safety.

"The Marapi Monument has experienced an eruption with an ash column height observed 800 meters from the peak on December 4, 2023 at 22:00 WIB, the ash column was observed to be gray to black thick intensity leaning towards the southwest.

"This eruption was recorded on a seismograph with a maximum amplitude of 3 mm with a duration of approximately 1 minute 8 seconds," said Acting Head of the Geological Agency Muhammad Wafid in a press conference related to the Development of Mount Marapi Activities.

Mount Marapi continued, Wafid is currently at level II (Alert) and it has been recommended that people around Mount Marapi and visitors or tourists not be allowed to climb Mount Marapi at a radius of 3 km from the crater.
