Wamenkumham Proposes Pretrial, First Trial December 11

JAKARTA - Deputy Minister of Law and Human Rights (Wamenkumham), Edward Omar Sharif Hiariej or known as Eddy Hiariej filed a pretrial lawsuit against his determination as a suspect in the alleged gratification and bribery case. The lawsuit was filed with the South Jakarta District Court. "There is indeed a pretrial application," said the Public Relations Officer of the South Jakarta District Court, Djuyamto, to reporters, Monday, December 4. Not only the Deputy Minister of Law and Human Rights, two of his Personal Assistants (Aspri) Yogi Arie Rukmana and Yosi Andika Mulyadi also took similar legal steps. The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) as the respondent. "The application was submitted today, regarding December 4, 2023, in the image of the South Jakarta District Court," he said. The head of the South Jakarta District Court has named Estiono as the sole judge who will try the lawsuit. "The first trial is Monday on December 11," said Djuyamto. Eddy was named a suspect along with three other people. He is suspected of receiving gratuities and bribes. The KPK revealed that the form of gratification was allegedly in the form of receiving a sum of money related to the consultation and assistance for the ratification of a company's legal entity. The determination of the suspect based on an investigation warrant (sprindik) has been signed since two weeks ago. The anti-corruption commission has also sent a letter to President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) regarding the determination of Eddy Hiariej as a suspect. The letter was received by the Ministry of State Secretariat (Setneg) on Friday, December 1.

To investigate this case, the KPK has also asked the Directorate General of Immigration of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights to prevent four people from leaving the country. Apart from Eddy, those prevented were Yosi Andika Mulyadi and Yogi Arie Rukmana who were his personal assistants. Meanwhile, one private party is the President Director of PT Citra Lampia Mandiri Helmut Hermawan.
