JAKARTA - Vice President (Vice President) Ma'ruf Amin feels very lost for the death of former Head of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) Doni Monardo.

This was conveyed by the spokesman for the Vice President Masduki Baidlowi when contacted in Jakarta, Sunday, December 3 night.

"The vice president has lost a lot with Mr. Doni Monardo's character," said Masduki, confiscated by Antara.

Masduki said that Vice President Ma'ruf Amin was deeply saddened and lost the figure of Doni Monardo, as a figure who had been relatively close to the Vice President.

Masduki said that Doni Monardo was the person who accompanied the Vice President in one of the Vice President's visits to Papua.

When the Vice President went to Papua, he was also accompanied by Mr. Doni Monardo in several places, and there were also several programs that meant a lot to the Vice President, because there was a movement of support regarding reforestation. That's in Timika, Papua," he said.

Second, he said, when the COVID-19 occurred, the Vice President also visited the BNPB office, which at that time was still led by Doni Monardo.

"At that time the Vice President listened in detail how the explanations of Mr. Doni Monardo and the Vice President really respected his integrity as a figure, so a figure like him was really needed by the state," said the Vice President. "So the vice president is very lost," he said.

Masduki said that Vice President Ma'ruf would try to take the time to pay his respects tomorrow.

"God willing, yes, maybe if technically possible, the Vice President will pay his respects, but at least a bouquet of flowers is being sent to his house. The problem is that the Vice President is not at the official residence, but at a house outside the city in Cimanggis," he said.

"Tonight may be technically a bit difficult, but maybe tomorrow hopefully there will be time. Maybe a definite response. Just now I got news from the Vice President like that," added Masduki.

Previously, the Special Staff of the Head of the 2019-2021 National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) Egy Massadiah confirmed that Lt. Gen. (Ret.) DR. HC Doni Monardo died on Sunday afternoon.

"He died at 17.35 WIB at Siloam Semanggi Hospital," said Egy Massadiah, confirmed by ANTARA in Jakarta, while in the ICU room at Siloam Semanggi Hospital, Jakarta.

Doni Monardo has reportedly fallen ill and has been undergoing intensive treatment at the hospital since September 22, 2023.
