Anies: If You Want Change, Then Authority Is Needed

TANGERANG - Presidential Candidate number 1 Anies Baswedan said that if people want change in Indonesia, then they need authority. So that the 2024 presidential election must have a struggle from all parties to win it.

"So that there is a change, then the authority is needed. If it doesn't exist, then it can't," said Anies during a campaign at Gondrong Sports Center, Tangerang City, Banten, Saturday.

Anies said the issue of change he brought was not only at the beginning of the campaign, because the issue had been echoed since last year.

According to him, the change is not just a matter of slogan, because until now the basic needs of the community are still expensive, such as the price of basic necessities that continue to soar, as well as education.

Therefore, said Anies, there needs to be a change so that the problems being faced can be resolved.

He gave an example of the big role of an authority when he served as governor of DKI Jakarta. In 2017, he was able to close entertainment venues where there were violations, Alexis, where the place was previously very difficult to touch.

"It ( Alexis's closure) is an illustration of how important authority is in making changes. Even though the idea is good, it is supported by many people, but there is no authority, so it cannot implement it," Anies said after the campaign.

The Indonesian KPU has appointed three pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates as participants in the 2024 presidential election, namely Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar with serial number 1, Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka number 2, and Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud MD number 3.

The KPU has also set a campaign period from November 28, 2023 to February 10, 2024, then the voting schedule will be on February 14, 2024.
