JAKARTA - The Abu Dhabi Authority, United Arab Emirates (UAE) again presents a choice of modern and environmentally friendly public transportation services to reduce carbon emissions.
In its announcement last Thursday, the Integrated Transportation Center (ITC) announced an operational test of hydrogen-powered taxis, along with the start of the COP28 climate Conference in Dubai.
"To achieve Abi Dhabi's environmental goals and in line with the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP28), the Integrated Transportation Center announced the first experimental operational hydrogen taxi with the aim of reducing carbon emissions," ITC explained in a post on Twitter, as quoted December 1.
Citing The National News, the launch was in collaboration with Tawasul Transport Company, Adnoc Distribution and Al-Futtaim Motors as part of its commitment to reduce emissions in taxi use and is in line with COP28.
Furthermore, it said, this new taxi aims to reduce carbon emissions in emirates, as well as help meet Abu Dhabi's environmental goals, which aim to reduce emissions by 30 million tonnes by 2027, from 135 million tonnes in 2016.
The trial will analyze the effectiveness of the environmentally friendly fuel operation mechanism, the number of travel kilometers and the amount of hydrogen used.
The ITC emphasized that the use of environmentally friendly taxis is very important to ensure that Abu Dhabi meets its global sustainability goals by accelerating the global transition to an environmentally friendly transportation system.
