Landslide Hits 6 Villages In Cianaga Sukabumi Village

SUKABUMI - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Sukabumi Regency, West Java, stated that heavy rains that fell for most of the day in the local area triggered landslides in six villages in Cianaga Village, Kabandungan District.

"The landslide disaster occurred on Thursday (30/11) until Friday (1/12). There were no casualties, it's just that a number of houses were damaged and even one family head or five people had to evacuate," said Public Relations officer of the Sukabumi Regency BPBD, Sandra Fitria, as reported by ANTARA, Friday, December 1.

The six villages that experienced landslides in Cianaga Village, Kabandungan District, namely in Cipicung Village, RT 05/1. Landslide with a length of 15 meters, a height of six meters and a sheet of five meters threaten a resident's house inhabited by seven people and close the road environment.

Then the landslide of a five-meter high and six-meter wide cliff in Cimeri Village, RT 03/01 caused the village road to be buried by soil material and two housing units inhabited by seven people were threatened.

A four-meter high cliff landslide with a seven-meter sheet in Cimanggu Village, RT 07/02 resulted in one resident's house being heavily damaged and two other houses being lightly damaged and threatened.

Furthermore, the three-meter high ground cliff with a length of four meters in Cisuren Village, RT 01/03 landslides caused a minor damage to one house.

A three-meter-high cliff landslide with a length of six meters in Ciangrit Village threatens a house inhabited by two families or seven people. Finally, the landslide of a cliff with a length of eight meters and a height of three meters in Cisuren Village, RT 01/03 resulted in the village road being buried.

From the results of an assessment conducted by the Kabandungan District Disaster Management Officer (P2BK) due to this landslide, eight houses inhabited by nine families or 38 people were threatened.

Then one family head with a total of five people fled because his house was heavily damaged and for the death toll or zero injuries.

Meanwhile, the land material that had hoarded roads has now been successfully removed by P2BK in collaboration with elements of the TNI, Polri and village governments as well as local sub-districts which are also assisted by local residents.

The urgent need is in the form of sacks to fill the soil as a barrier to landslides, gabions and others. Meanwhile, emergency assistance for survivors, especially those who evacuate, is in the form of tarpaulins, household appliances, basic necessities and building materials.

"The total losses due to this disaster are still being calculated. All landslide locations in Cianaga Village have been handled by joint officers," he added.

Kabandungan P2BK Yusuf said the conditions at the disaster site were still cloudy and had rained but the duration was not long. His party together with elements of the Kabandungan Forkopimcam are still on standby to anticipate further landslides.
