PT PLN (Persero) Main Distribution Unit of South Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi, and West Sulawesi (UID Sulselrabar) have begun to provide compensation for the rotating blackouts that have occurred in recent months.

General Manager of PLN UID Sulselrabar Moch Andy Adhaminordin said PLN had processed compensation to around 2.1 million customers in the Sulselrabar area who were affected by load management in accordance with the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Regulation Number 18 of 2023 concerning the Level of Service Quality and Cost.

"For affected customers, PLN will provide compensation for postpaid kWh customers. Meanwhile, for prepaid kWh customers, PLN has distributed compensation through additional kWh when purchasing tokens," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, December 1.

Andy explained that for postpaid customers, the compensation will be distributed automatically when paying bills.

Meanwhile, prepaid customers will get compensation tokens when purchasing the latest tokens.

He added that compensation can be checked at the bottom of the token purchase slip. Furthermore, the token number can be inputted by prepaid customers at kWh meter to get additional kWh compensation.

"For prepaid customers who have already thrown away payment slips without having time to see and enter a compensation token, don't worry, customers can check through the PLN Mobile application," said Andy.

According to him, PLN continues to strive to provide the best service by maintaining continuous electricity supply in the South Sulawesi electricity system (Sulbagsel) which is disrupted due to the El Nino phenomenon which results in limited hydroelectric capacity (PLTA).
