Kampung Melayu Floods, Dozens Of People Refuge

JAKARTA - Floods in Kampung Melayu resulted in 31 people having to flee to the Jami Ihtihadul Ikhwan Mosque, the local village.

Head of the DKI Jakarta Disaster Management and Data Processing Unit (BPBD) Michael Sitanggang said based on the latest data at 15.00 WIB, as many as 21 RTs in Kampung Melayu Village were flooded with a height of 30-165 centimeters.

"The cause is high rainfall and overflowing Ciliwung River," Michael said as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, November 30.

Meanwhile, a number of other areas in DKI Jakarta were also reported to be inundated due to rain with moderate to heavy intensity that hit since Wednesday (29/11).

Based on the latest data on Thursday at 15.00 WIB, 57 RT or 0.19 percent of the 30,772 RT in the DKI Jakarta area is still inundated.

In detail, eight RTs in South Jakarta consisting of one RT in Pondok Pinang Village, one RT in Rawajati Village, and six RTs in East Pejaten Village.

Then, 49 RTs in East Jakarta, consisting of 10 RTs in Bidara Cina Village, 21 RTs in Kampung Melayu Village, two RTs in Balekambang Village, seven RTs in Cawang Village, and nine RTs in Cililitan Village.

BPBD DKI also noted that one person had fled to the Sasana Krida Karang Taruna (SKKT) RW 011, Bidara Cina Village.

Meanwhile, the areas that have receded are 11 RTs in Rawajati Village, two RTs in Kampung Melayu Village, seven RTs in Cawang Village, and two RTs in Tanjung Barat Village.
