KPU Office Becomes The Location Of The First Debate Of The 2024 Presidential And Vice Presidential Candidates

The General Elections Commission (KPU) has set the location for the first debate for presidential and vice presidential candidates participating in the 2024 General Election at the KPU office, Jakarta, on December 12, 2023.

"We will prepare everything," said Chairman of the Indonesian KPU Hasyim Asy'ari, quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, November 30.

The KPU has just set a location for the inaugural debate, while the location of the other four debates is still under discussion.

Debat capres-cawapres Pemilu 2024 akan dilakukan sebanyak lima kali dan semuanya dilaksanakan di Jakarta.

After the inaugural debate, the second debate is scheduled for December 22, 2023, the third debate on January 7, 2024, the fourth debate on January 21, 2024, and the last debate on February 4, 2024.

"Of the five, the debate will start at 19.00 WIB," said Hasyim.

Debates for presidential and vice-presidential candidates will be broadcast live on national TV stations with a total duration of 150 minutes. The details, 120 minutes for the debate segment and the rest for advertising.

Debat capres-cawapres dapat dibagi menjadi enam segmen. Segmen pertama yaitu pembukaan, pembacaan tata antara, dan penyampaian visi, misi, dan program kerja.

Then, the second to fifth segments will focus on deepening the vision, mission, work program, question and answer, and rebuttal; and the last segment is closing.

The theme of the debate will refer to the national vision as stated in the Preamble to the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia, guided by the National Long-Term Development Plan (RPJPN).

The theme was determined after coordinating with the presidential election candidate pair and/or campaign team. The specific theme of each presidential and vice presidential debate was prepared together with a panelist in accordance with his field of expertise.

Based on KPU Regulation No. 15 of 2023 Article 50 Paragraph (1), the debate will be conducted three times for presidential candidates and twice for vice presidential candidates. However, the KPU can still change the number of debates in coordination with the DPR.
