2 Bogor Residents Exposed To Monkeypox

BOGOR- The Health Office (Dinkes) of Bogor City, West Java (West Java) recorded that two residents were exposed to monkeypox and were undergoing self-isolation at home to avoid transmission to other residents.

Head of the Bogor City Health Office, Sri Nowo Retno, said that two patients who were exposed to monkeypox in the area had mild symptoms, so they were directed to self-isolate at home with services monitored by the Health Office.

"Two confirmed cases of monkeypox in Bogor City have been handled, they are isolated and treated as well as the PE ( Epidemiological Investigation) of their close contacts. Symptoms are mild, so self-isolation," said Retno as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, November 30.

Retno said that currently the Bogor City Health Office is conducting close contact tracing to anticipate the spread of the disease. However, he said, so far there have been no cases of patients exposed to monkeypox, apart from two patients undergoing isolation.

"Only those two people, hopefully they won't spread," he said.

Retno also said that the Bogor City Health Office had issued Circular (SE) Number 100.3.4.3/7117-P2P concerning Increasing Vigilance Against Monkeypox Disease (mox) or Monkeypox.

Circular was made to prevent monkeypox disease, which is currently widespread in the areas of DKI Jakarta, South Tangerang, Tangerang Regency, and Bandung.

Retno added that the Bogor City Health Office also continues to coordinate with the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) in early detection of monkeypox.

He appealed to the public to apply Clean and Healthy Lifestyle (PHBS) as an effort to prevent exposure to monkeypox.
