President: Anticipate All Scenarios And Quick Response To Changes In Global Situations

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo asked all relevant parties to anticipate all scenarios that may occur in the midst of the current global situation, as well as quickly responding to changes.

"The most important thing is to anticipate all scenarios going forward. Fast in responding to every change," said the President in his direction at the 2023 Bank Indonesia Annual Meeting, reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, November 29.

The President said Indonesia must be optimistic, but must remain wise in dealing with super-fast changes.

"We must be prudent (wise) in moving forward, but also don't be too careful, credit is too careful, credit is all too careful, as a result of dry turnover in the real sector," he explained.

Jokowi asked stakeholders in the economic sector to continue to monitor inflation in the field, and to quickly resolve it if there is a problem.

"Then also strengthen KSSK (Financial System Stability Committee), often meet, often talk to maintain financial sector stability," he said.

President Jokowi suggested that the Governor of Bank Indonesia together with the Chairman of the Financial Services Authority (OJK) and the Chairperson of the Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS) often exchange data with the Minister of Finance and the Coordinating Minister for the Economy, so that all parties can respond quickly to existing changes.

"At least once a week, or every two weeks we meet for coffee together, there is no problem. You don't have to be serious but exchange numbers, exchange calculations, exchange calculations. Because of the conditions, we have to respond quickly to changing situations," he said.

The President reminded that Indonesia also needs encouragement and momentum to maintain growth. Jokowi assessed that the big strategy, both in downstreaming the industry and the green economy, will be a driving force for the national economy that will create jobs and increase the added value, and support a sustainable economy.
