The Bribin II Dam Of Gunungkidul Was Damaged Due To The 2017 Storm Being Repaired, Estimated To Eat A Budget Of IDR 45 Billion

DIY - The lower dam in Bribin II or Sindon in Kalurahan Dadapayu, Semanu, Gunungkidul was damaged by Hurricane Cempaka a few years ago. The Gunungkidul Regency Government has begun to repair it.

Gunungkidul Regent Sunaryanta said that repairing the underground Bribin II Dam needs to be reviewed with a repair budget requirement of IDR 45 billion.

"We have conveyed it to the Serayu Opak River Basin Center (BBWSSO). In the short term, we will secure what is still good and we will repair what is damaged, because to replace the costs is very high," said Sunaryanta in Gunungkidul, Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY), Wednesday, November 29, confiscated by Antara.

As is known, Bribin II is an underground spring that is appointed to meet the clean water needs of the people in Gunungkidul, especially in three kalinewon/sub-districts.

He said he and a team from the DPUPKP and BBWSSO had visited the lower dam in Bribin II. Dam damage is located 104 meters below the ground level. The dam was damaged due to the impact of Hurricane Cempaka in 2017.

"Based on the field checks, the damage was extraordinary, the pipe connection was broken and the water hit the engine room. Even though the Bribin discharge was quite large 500 liters per second," he said.

In addition, Sunaryanto said he would coordinate with BBWSSO for repairs, and later submitted to the central government.

"I will go to Jakarta, one of them for this, hopefully it can be done later. It can function as before. Later, if it works, three of them can be used by Kapanewon, namely Girisubo, Rongkop, and Semanu. This is a big debt," said Sunaryanta.

BBWSSO Wardani Satker member said the damage to this dam was during the 2017 Hurricane Cempaka flood. There was quite a lot of damage, one of which was the main route so it didn't work.

The water lifting uses a microhydro system by building a dam in the underground river. The process must be drilled as deep as 104 meters.

This system does not require electricity to pump clean water until the surface. Turbin is driven by water itself.

"Since the Cempaka Storm until now, Bribin II has not been operationalized. So everything needs to be checked again. When we studied we were assisted by the marine," he said.

Meanwhile, PDAM President Director Tirta Handayani Toto Sugiharto hopes that Bribin II can be repaired soon. Bribin II is used to irrigate Tepus, Rongkop, and Girisubo.

"The three Kapanewon initially used two sources, namely Bribin (I) and Sindon (Bribin II), but since the 2017 Cempaka Storm there has only been one, namely Bribin. So that it is unable to meet the community's water needs optimally," said Toto.
