JAKARTA - The Malaysian Royal Police (PDRM) separately arrested two men on suspicion of insulting Malaysia's King Yang di-Pertuan Agong and threatening Malaysian Prime Minister.
Malaysian Royal Police Chief Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said PDRM confirmed arresting two local men separately aged 37 and 34 years.
PDRM will conduct an investigation into statements insulting Malaysia's King and threats to the Prime Minister through social media platforms.
The first arrest of the alleged owner or manager of Cik Cik Po's Facebook account on Sunday, November 26 in the city of Baharu, Kelantan. Reporting from Antara, the man uploaded comments that tended to incite hatred or insult or feelings of disrespect towards any King.
The request for detention of the suspect for four days from 27 to 30 November based on Article 117 of the Criminal Procedure Code is allowed.
The case is currently being investigated under Article 4 (1) of the Law on Insulting in 1948 for causing hatred and insults to any King, and Article 233 of the 1988 Law on Communication and Multimedia, namely the use of network facilities or network services inappropriately and others.
While the second arrest, he said it was carried out against a man believed to be the owner or manager of the TikTok @jaiadani89 account, who was arrested in connection with sending a criminal threat to the Malaysian Prime Minister on Tuesday on Padang Shooting Street, Bharu City, Kelantan.
Requests for detention of men suspected of committing the threat are based on Article 117 of the Criminal Procedure Code allowed for three days from November 28 to November 30, 2023.
The investigation, according to him, was carried out based on Article 507 of the Criminal Code, namely the Crime of Intimidation by Anonymizing, and Article 233 of the 1998 Communication and Multimedia Law, namely the Abuse of Network Facilities or Network Services and others.
The case is still under investigation by the Secret Criminal Investigation Agency (USJT), Bareskrim Bukit Aman.
