Mahfud MD Still Guards Law Enforcement Agenda Despite Leave From Coordinating Minister For Political, Legal And Security Affairs During Campaigns

JAKARTA - Head of the Ganjar-Mahfud National Winning Team (TPN), Arsjad Rasjid, said Mahfud MD, who is the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam) on leave to campaign as a vice presidential candidate (cawapres). President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) is said to have given permission.

"Mr. Mahfud is a person full of people and always follows the existing rules. He has asked for leave and he has received the leave, that's why he is now in Sabang," said Arsjad at the High End Building, Kebon Sirih, Central Jakarta, Tuesday, November 28.

Despite the leave, Mahfud will still monitor a number of issues related to law enforcement. This statement was conveyed by the Advisory Council of TPN Ganjar-Mahfud, Yenny Wahid.

He said Mahfud still had a number of tasks related to the enforcement of Humum that had to be completed. "Mr. Mahfud is a person who has a strong commitment," said Yenny at the same location.

"In my dialogue with him, he emphasized that he still feels he has the task of completing several law enforcement agendas in Indonesia. Therefore, even though he is currently on leave, he is still committed to law enforcement," he continued.

In addition to law enforcement, Mahfud will also oversee important issues such as eradicating corruption. "It will continue to oversee important agendas in the future," said Yenny.

As previously reported, Ganjar started a campaign in Papua while Mahfud visited Sabang, Aceh. Later, they will gather in the central region of Indonesia.

The General Elections Commission (KPU) has determined that the election campaign period will take place from November 28, 2023 to February 10, 2024. Meanwhile, the voting is scheduled to be held on February 14, 2024.
